So you have your goals. You’ve created your plan. Now it’s time to prepare to kick things into gear. For some of you wanting to start at the top of the year on January 1, 2021, you have today and tomorrow to get ready. For others, you have 5 days left if you are preparing to start at the beginning of the first full week of the new year. Then there are those of you reading this at different times in the year and you are preparing to implement goals soon. Wherever you are in your process, implement the following points to prepare for success.
Get What You Need
Practical tip here. Sign up for and register for what you need. Purchase the items you need to get started. Begin organizing the things you will need so you aren’t searching fo them when it’s time to implement. Execute what you need to do to get started. Eliminate all potential excuses and setbacks that would keep or discourage you from moving forward.
Prepare To Be Flexible
This is more of a mental preparation tip. Your plan is not perfect and it will not happen exactly how you wrote it. Your plan does not factor in the challenges and obstacles you will face ahead. The best way to prepare for those challenges and obstacles is to have in your mind that you will be flexible. Life happens. You cannot anticipate every circumstance or roadblock. Having in your mind that you are going to be flexible no matter what comes your way allows you to be able to pivot more quickly when the unexpected occurs. Use your plan as a tool and a guide but ultimately follow the leading Holy Spirit. If He helped you write the plan, He’ll help you pivot and make the necessary adjustments needed to keep you going. Listen to His voice and obey His commands. Plans are good but they are not God. Don’t make your plan an idol. Be flexible.
Get A Head Start
Begin transitioning into the life you need to live to accomplish your goals. You don’t have to wait to get started. This is a great time to test out your plan and identify possible hiccups and challenges that you can address and make adjustments to ahead of your written timeline. If you have what you need or enough to get started, there is no reason for you to wait or delay. Just start. Do what you can do today and stop pushing it off for later.
Prepare To Implement
It’s important to prepare to go after your goals. Preparation is key for success. Preparation helps eliminate avoidable obstacles and setbacks. Get what you need to get. You might not have everything you want but get what you need to get started. The rest can come along the way. Prepare to be flexible. You’ll spend less time being frustrated when challenges occur and pivot more quickly. This helps remove a lot of stops and restarts that has halted you from pursuing your goals in the past. Get a head start. Don’t put it off. Test the waters to see if you forgot anything. Doing so will keep you from being discouraged in the midst of implementing your plan. You don’t want to discover challenges you could have prepared for or avoided beforehand.
