Got your vision, goals, and plans for the year? Are they aligned with God’s will and purpose for your life? If not, it’s not too late. Even if you have, think through the following to determine if there any adjustments you need to make.
Submit to His Will
Your Will Versus His Will
Is what you are desiring in this new year in His will for you to do or accomplish?
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherʼs womb.”
Psalm 139:13 NIV

God knows every intricate detail about your life. It is wise to submit to His will. You will get frustrated and tire yourself out doing things outside of His will for. Submitting to His will allows you to go much further and accomplish much more than what you can on your own.
How do you submit to His will?
Walk in relationship with Him. If you don’t have a relationship with Him, start one right now. Connect with someone who can show you how to start and grow in one. Spend time with Him in His presence. Read your bible daily. Pray everyday throughout the day. Ask Him to lead and direct your life, moment by moment. Have intentional quiet time to listen to what He has to say. He wants to hear from you and He wants to speak to you. Write down what you hear and make sure it aligns with His Word. Trust the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. Get in community with other believers who are pursuing a relationship with God and the calling He has for their life.
Identify Your Purpose and Calling
““Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8 NIV

Before you seek His hand, get His heart. See where He wants to lead you. He knows the route and destination to your destiny so let Him lead you there. “Your” path will lead to destruction. His path will lead to an abundant life with victory over every challenge and obstacle that will try to stop you.
Ask who God created you to be and what He wants you to do. We have all been called to follow Him and make disciples. Have you considered what area of life this might be for you? We all have gifts and talents given to us that He wants to develop and use. Through these we get to touch and reach others around us.
Warning: You may not know what God created you to do or what He wants you to be outside of making disciples. It’s okay! Through prayer and submission, trust Him to show you, even if it’s just the next step to the purpose He has for your life.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105 NIV
http://bible.com/111/psa.119.105.niv
What has God shown you through prayer, His Word, and the Holy Spirit? Act on what He has shown you. Go where He is leading you. Do what He tells you to do. Don’t wait for or depend on the big picture. You don’t need to know all of the details. See the path but take the step He is showing you to take. You will not know the next step, nor will you get the next step, until you take the current one He told you to take.
Prayerfully Create A Plan
Ask the Lord to give you guidance with creating a plan to do what He has revealed to you. Growth and development takes intentionality.
What are the main areas God have given you a passion and desire for? What areas or people He has made you responsible for? Ask God how to grow these areas today, this month, and this year. What should I focus on, Lord? Who do I need to connect with for assistance? How does my involvement in this area impact Your greater mission of lives being changed for Your glory?
Write down what you hear from answering these questions. Determine what you need to start and do now. Schedule it in. Make it a priority. Don’t let the business of life keep you from accomplishing what you have been instructed to do and become. This is where your goals and the details to achieve them are created.
Following The Plan
As you go, God through the Holy Spirit helps you to go further. You have to go, though. Faith without works is dead. God will bless the work of your hands. It is His faithfulness, grace, mercy, and power that we can do anything.
It’s easy to get distracted. It’s easy to go off course. Do your best to be consistent and devoted to what God tells you to do. If you get off track, repent and get back going in the direction He is leading you to go. Whether it’s day one or day fifteen, keep going and don’t give up. Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. If He adjusts or shifts the plan, go with Him. About your plan to achieve His will.
Setting Goals and Accomplishing Them
The world’s needs, wants, and desires will try to keep you from fulfilling what you are supposed to do. Ask God for direction. Submit to and trust the Holy Spirit to guide you.
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13 NIV

Without Him your plans will fail so don’t go at them in your own strength. Destinies designed by God are beyond our capability of achieving in our own strength. Identify those areas you will focus on. Create actionable steps. Schedule those things andImplement them until they become a habit. Digits are in the planning. Fitness is following the Holy Spirit and developing consistency and discipline to pursue what God has call you to do. Let’s accomplish the goals God has set for us to achieve in this new year by submitting to His will and following His plan for our lives!
