Be determined to make it happen! This week I encouraged you to Make It A Priority, whatever “it” may be for you. Once priorities are set, we have to Make Time for them. We also learned that it is not good enough just to schedule it. We have to Make Room for these things to happen in our schedule and in our day so we can maximize the time we do have. Today we are going to look at what we have to do to actually make it happen.
Execution is key if we want to achieve anything in life. A plan on paper accomplishes nothing on its own. It is time to make our plans a reality. We can’t just talk and dream about it. We have make it happen!
Let’s be honest. We can’t make it happen by our own strength. Even when we can, it won’t last long. We need the help of the Holy Spirit. First we have to make sure we are pursuing the right things. Then we need to trust that our Helper will give use the strength and tools we need to accomplish what we have set out to do. Follow the Spirit. He is your Helper and Guide. He is not your do boy or genie. Be flexible and follow His lead. He will strengthen and empower the work of your hands. Be attentive to His voice and see with the eyes of faith as you move forward in allowing Him to shape what your life is supposed to be and look like.
Making It Happen
- Execute and walk in obedience. Do what you can do. This includes what He has gifted and instructed you to do. Discipline yourself to stay on course. Ask yourself if this is something I should be doing right now. When you get off track, be determined to refocus and be faithful to God and the path He wants you to take.
- Be flexible. Don’t let life happenings cause you to quit. It may not happen the original way you wanted or expected it to happen but trust God through the Holy Spirit to help you pivot so you can accomplish your priorities.
- Maintain boundaries. Learn and practice saying no. I’m not talking about the things you are supposed to do and say yes to. If the Holy Spirit is leading or telling you to say yes, don’t let this be an excuse for you to cop-out of being obedient. Protect your time and focus. Distractions are enemies to your destination. Say no to distractions. Distractions can be good and bad things. They can also be friends and foes. If the Holy Spirit has not redirected you to draw your attention somewhere else, maintain set boundaries so you can stay productive.
- Reflect. Celebrate areas of success and determine how you can replicate those efforts moving forward. Identify areas of improvement as well so you can pivot and make the necessary adjustments in the coming days and weeks.
Making it happen is not about perfection. Making it happen lies in success and wins over time. Give yourself the grace to learn and grow. You are not a robot. In the process you will learn new things about yourself and what is really required of you to accomplish that which you are destined to achieve. Be patient with yourself and embrace the journey.
