Having freedom and living out your freedom in the way it was designed for you to live are two different things. Many of us are free but we choose to live in bondage. We are free to pursue new opportunities but choose to stay bound to the oppression we currently find ourselves in.
Why do we have freedom but choose not to fully live and appropriately use our freedom?
One answer to this question is that we are afraid to leave what’s familiar and what’s comfortable. We find ourselves stuck, not because others are holding us back but more so because we are too afraid to move forward. We know that our future will require more from and out of us so we shrink back wondering if we have what it takes not to just make it but to also last.
Another reason is the fear of future opposition that is guaranteed up ahead. Freedom isn’t free. Freedom cost us something. We have to fight for it and set boundaries to protect it.
Adding to this pressure is the fact that it is sometimes difficult to trust. People can be selfish and intrude on the freedom and liberties of other people for their personal benefit. So instead we choose comfort to avoid conflict and confrontation.
Don’t forfeit your ability to live and be free. Freedom in your mind. Freedom to be who you are and who God has created you to be. On the other side of you choosing comfort over freedom is regret. That’s not the life you are meant to live.
To actually live your best life is to live your life in the freedom of Christ. True freedom is found in Him. Through His power, strength, and guidance you can actually live the fulfilling purpose filled life you were created to live anything else going on in the world around you.
