It is time to recover and regroup! Treat this week like it is half time! This is not the time to go looking for half time snacks and enjoy half time entertainment. It is time to refocus and restrategize. It’s time to AIM for success as you transition into the second half of the year!
Analyze Where You Are
How have you progressed in the first half of the year? Don’t go solely off of your feelings. They can lie to you and skew the truth. Don’t ignore your feelings. They reveal what is going on the inside of you mentally and emotionally. They matter but only present part of the full picture. You may think you are not doing so well but then realize you have actually made progress in certain areas. You may feel like you have been doing great but may be off track in some areas of your pursuit. Just don’t stop at the feelings. Look for the evidence. What does the data show? Take out the goals and plans you had for this year and begin analyzing and evaluating where you really are.
Where have you seen growth? Identify the wins! It hasn’t been all bad. It is easy to focus on the negative and where we have fallen short. I want to encourage you to identify the wins and what is going well so that you can capitalize on your success so far this year. If you know what is working well, you want to make sure you continue doing those things and get better at them to continue and increase future success.
Determine where you need to refocus and realign yourself to accomplish your goals. Be honest. What challenges have you seen? What obstacles do you see ahead? Determine what you are going to do to combat them. Take responsibility for the areas you have fallen off or not shown up. Own up to your mistakes and acknowledge where you have gone off track. Properly analyzing where you are will help you effectively move forward. The goal isn’t to make you feel like a failure. You are not a failure. That’s not your identity. You have areas of growth like every other human being that ever existed and will exist. The only difference is that you are choosing to own up to your shortcoming and do what it takes to make the necessary improvements within your control and ability.
Identify Next Steps
Now that you know what is going well and what areas need attention, it is time to identify the next steps you need to make to move forward. Whether it is to get back on track or to gain momentum, identifying your next steps will help you win.
If there are a lot of little next steps, try to group them together or spread them out. If you have a bunch of little things you feel like needs to change, you may feel overwhelmed and burn yourself out too quickly. Choose to focus on the most important changes that must be made to successfully move forward and get you to accomplishing and achieving your goals.
Remember, one digit at a time. Plan it out. Focus your limited time and energy on what you can do. Remember, it’s next steps, not one or a few giant leaps. You can’t take all the steps at once. Look at the 6 months we have left ahead and determine to the best of your ability how you are going to win! Go at the pace of grace. Don’t move too quickly or slowly. Move at His speed and pace as directed by the Holy Spirit.
Make Adjustments & Pivot
Begin making the adjustments. You don’t have to wait to start making the pivot. Your initial first steps just might be able to be accomplish this week before the first full week of the second half of the year begins! Don’t limit yourself. Don’t procrastinate.
At the same time, I am not telling you to move ahead into something you are not ready or prepared for that requires such preparation. Maybe you need to take this half time to update your plans and strategize for the next half of the year. Don’t miss this opportunity of preparation. You won’t get this time back. Don’t be anxious. Don’t miss it either. It is okay to recover and regroup. You will be thankful for taking this time later.
Determine where you are when it comes to you readjusting and pivoting for the second half of the year. Are you ready to begin pivoting or do you need to get realigned so that pivoting is actually possible? Reflect. Pray and as God to show you your next steps and reveal to you where you are and where you need to go.
It’s Half Time
Take a deep breath! You made it through the first half of the year. As you enter into the second half, be encouraged! Make the most of this half time. It’s okay to use it. You have permission to enjoy it. You need it. Set yourself up for the success you are destined to achieve with His help, guidance, and strength.
Whether you find yourself behind, on time, or ahead, you will accomplish what you have set out to achieve this second half of the year. The second half of this year be greater for you than the first! Half time has begun! AIM for greatness!
